The Dortmund-born artist studied with Joseph Beuys at the Art Academy Düsseldorf and soon stood out with his figurative and figural painting, which clearly distinguished his work from the conceptual, minimalist or abstract approaches of fellow students such as Imi Knoebel, Blinky Palermo, Reiner Ruthenbeck or Katharina Sieverding.
Tadeusz had a strong formative influence on the Düsseldorf art scene with his idiosyncratic style of painting. His at times drastic depictions in his often large-scale pictures invariably leave a strong impression on the viewer. Tadeusz shows objects from unusual angles, and his figures are often depicted in extreme postures. The formal structure of his paintings and watercolours often incorporates elements of abstract colour field painting. The exhibition is realised in close collaboration with the artist’s estate.

The exhibition will be on view at LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur, Münster, from May to Auugust 2020.
